Banaba Extract: comes from standardizing the herb Lagerstroemia speciosa, otherwise known as the banaba tree. Standardized Banaba Extracts from the leaf of L. speciosa have been shown to stimulate glucose transport activity in vitro and lower plasma glucose in both diabetic rodents and humans. Most importantly, Banaba Extract reduces serum glucose in a dose-response relationship. For example, researchers studied intake of Banaba Extract ranging from 0.16mg - 0.48 mg taken with meals. People given higher levels of the extract showed greater lowering of plasma glucose. Banaba Extract has also been studied for weight loss, and a dose-response relationship was also found. In this study, greater reductions in bodyweight were reported with the 32 mg – 48 mg doses, suggesting that Banaba Extract may prove to be a powerful new weight-loss supplement.

Gymnema Sylvestre: is an herb native to the tropical forests of southern and central India, where it has been used as a naturopathic treatment for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels for nearly 2000 years. The major bioactive constituents of Gymnema Sylvestre are a group of oleanane-type triterpenoid saponins known as gymnemic acids. For athletes, the most compelling research is that Gymnema Sylvestre has been shown to increase the secretion of insulin and promote the regeneration of pancreatic cells that produce this hormone.

 

L-Taurine: is the second most abundant free amino acid in muscle tissue. Recent research has shown that L-Taurine is effective in improving insulin sensitivity and nutrient disposal, in part, because of its significant role as an antioxidant, protecting insulin receptors from damage, and through increased nitric oxide production, or both.

 

Goat's Rue (Galega Officinalis): has been used to lower blood sugar levels and, thus, is used in alternative treatment of and for the prevention of diabetes mellitus. Insulean-K is standardized for 20-percent Guanylhdrazine, which provides the most potent form of Galega Officinalis on the market. Active constituents of Goat's Rue include flavonoids, saponins, glycosides, tannins and Guanylhdrazine, the compound said to be responsible for its blood-sugar-reducing capability.
