When attempting to achieve ultra-low levels of bodyfat, elite athletes have become increasingly aware that the process can become much more complex than simply eating less and exercising more. Hydroxyevodiamine: can be obtained from hydroxyevodiamine-containing plants, for example, plants belonging to the family Rutaceae such as plants of the genus Evodia (Evodia rutaecarpa, etc.). In 2001, researchers Kobayashi et al. examined the fat-fighting effects of the major alkaloid of Evodia, Evodiamine, and Evodia fruit extracts. The authors found evidence that the anti-obesity effects of Evodia were associated with enhanced breakdown of bodyfat (lipolysis) and greater thermogenesis. This may be attributed to vanilloid receptor stimulation by Evodiamine (the same receptor affected by cayenne red pepper). Most recently, researchers observed that Evodiamine has a potential to prevent the development of diet-induced obesity, in part, by inhibiting adipocyte differentiation through ERK activation and its negative crosstalk with the insulin-signaling pathway. Moreover, they found that the anti-obesity effects of Evodia Rutaecarpa are, in part, due to increasing the thermogenic action of uncoupling protein-1 (UCP1) ⁱ.

 

Pure Guggulsterone E & Z 99% (Commiphora Mukul): has been shown in animals to increase thyroid output (secretion of tetraiodothyronine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) thyroid hormones) by causing an uptake of iodine in the thyroid gland. This reaction may cause a slight rise in body temperature, which would burn more calories. This compound may also be useful to help break through a dieting “plateau,” by increasing the metabolism to pre-diet metabolism levels. In fact, Salvia Extract has been shown to decrease blood pressure similar to other vasodialators. Salvia's most specific function is increasing lipolysis (fat transport) using the non-stimulant pathway of fatty-acid metabolism called TCA (tricarboxylic acid) cycle. Recent research has shown that the active ingredient in Salivia plays a major role in a variety of important cellular functions, including inhibiting histamine release, relaxing muscles, increasing thyroid function, and increasing fat-burning activity. In essence, Salivia increases an enzyme called adenylate cyclase, which increases levels of another enzyme called cAMP (cyclic AMP), which is found in fat. cAMP then stimulates another enzyme, hormone-sensitive lipase, to burn fat. Additionally, by a similar mechanism using cAMP, coleus increases thyroid hormone production and release, thereby increasing the body's metabolism, to burn more calories.

Caffeine Malate: Caffeine is no longer “old news,” considering studies have shown that a single dose of 100 mg caffeine increased metabolic rate by 3-4% over a period of 2.5 hours. In addition, an increase in the burning of fat (fatty-acid oxidation) has also been validated in clinical studies.
